This webpage provides general information and links to resources related to the assessment component of the New Mexico Reading First project. The list below indicates the different types of measures being used within the project:
Measures Used for Screening All Students Kindergarten through Grade 3: Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)
Measures Used for Diagnostic Assessment: In most cases formal diagnostic assessments will not be necessary to plan interventions. In-program assessments will be critical in determining instructional placement and progress within the program. Analysis of student performance -- on both formal and informal tsets -- will provide essential information for planning instruction. If use of a formal diagnostic assessment is necessary, it should be one of the following approved assessments from the New Mexico Reading First grant: Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing (CTOPP); Woodcock Reading Mastery Test-Revised Letter Identification, Word Attack, and Comprehension subtests; Gray Oral Reading Test IV (GORT-IV)-Fluency Subtest; Woodcock Johnson III Test of Achievement, Picture Vocabulary
Measures Used for Progress Monitoring: Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills
Measures Used for Outcomes Assessments: Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills; Stanford Achievement Test-10th Edition; New Mexico Statewide Achievement Test (NMSAT)

Information for users of the Indicadores dinamicos del exito en la lectura 6ta Edicion (IDEL) measures:
Schools wanting to enter their IDEL data need to sign up for a separate Spanish account on the DIBELS website. Please follow the same procedures as when seting up your initial account, but specify the district name as "District Name (Spanish)." For example if your district name was Eastern Local, the district name for the IDEL measures would be Eastern Local (Spanish). Click here to link to the DIBELS Web sign-up page. Remember that the IDEL measures do not have established criterion scores or "benchmarks" and that the IDEL results are not directly comparable to the DIBELS benchmarks. |
